Peeblesshire Youth Trust worked with Tweeddale Youth Action to deliver a programme of support for local children moving into S1 at Peebles High School this year, with opportunities to attend a residential and join activity sessions.
Our sessions were a great way for children to meet others from the primary schools across Tweeddale. Whilst the majority of young people within Tweeddale will look forward to starting High School and thrive once they are there, transitions are tough for many and can trigger anxiety and stress. We want to give young people the best start possible and make the transition smooth and enjoyable.
We enjoyed an overnight residential at Netherurd as part of this amazing transition programme, as well as several sessions at the Youth Club in Peebles. Our young people confirmed that meeting new friends had helped in their preparation for starting at Peebles High School – and the ice cream tasted great too!
